Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to participate in MD&M Minneapolis, part of Advanced Manufacturing Minneapolis, taking place November 3-4, 2021, in Minneapolis, MN. MD&M Minneapolis is the region’s most comprehensive medical design and manufacturing event.
On Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, Robins Kaplan sponsored a breakfast and panel event hosted by MedtechWomen at MD&M Minneapolis, titled, “Shop Floor to Top Floor: Advancing Female and Diverse Leadership from Within.” This session focused on sourcing, retaining, and developing key female and diverse talent throughout manufacturing operations using a moderated format with female leaders across the medical industry.
Also on Thursday, Nov. 4, from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. CT, Sherry Roberg-Perez and Ryan Schultz participated in a panel presentation titled, “Best Practices to Ensure that Your Innovative Technology Has the Right Intellectual Property Protection.” As the medical device industry expands into new areas such as robotics, AI, nanotechnology, and wearables, companies need to continue to diligently protect their new technology. Panelists provided real world, practical advice regarding in-licensing and contractual agreements with collaborators. They also covered key aspects of U.S. patent law, including patentable subject matter and the “first-to-file” regime. Panelists additionally discussed alternatives to patent protection, such as best practices to protect trade secrets.
