On Monday, November 29, 2021, Brendan Johnson, Tim Purdon, Stacey Slaughter, and Casey Matthiesen presented in a webinar titled “Celebrating Native American Heritage Month - Current Issues in American Indian Law & Policy,” hosted by the Hennepin County Bar Association. This webinar explored a variety of relevant legal topics in American Indian law and Policy in the spirit of bringing people together to celebrate Native American Heritage month. Topics discussed included voting rights, healthcare, mineral rights, energy extraction, and tribal lending and financial cases. Particular focus on the challenges that tribes face in today’s legal landscape and how attorneys can better advocate for clients.
