Dick Allyn Recognized by Minnesota Justice Foundation for Outstanding Pro Bono Work

August 24, 2020

Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Dick Allyn has been named the recipient of the Minnesota Justice Foundation’s 2020 “Private Practice Pro Bono Award.”

A litigator with extensive experience handling catastrophic losses and liability claims, Dick also maintains a strong pro bono practice. This includes teaching the Insurance Law Clinic at the University of Minnesota Law School, a legal aid clinic providing pro bono help to disadvantaged people who have been denied insurance coverage.

All too often, people at the bottom of the economic ladder find themselves vulnerable to aggressive adjusters and harsh coverage positions when navigating the insurance claims process. The Insurance Law Clinic provides pro bono representation to these people, helping them fight for their rights. Each year, Dick teaches 6-8 law students the basics of insurance law, and, with the help of student directors, pursues insurers and insurance agents who have inappropriately denied coverage for a loss. The clinic has successfully reversed numerous claim rejections on behalf of people who need the relief the most. It is believed to be the only insurance law clinic at any law school.

Dick will receive the Private Practice Pro Bono Award at the Minnesota Justice Foundation’s 2020 Outstanding Service Award ceremony, which will be held virtually on September 30, 2020. To learn more or to register for the event, click here.
