Michael Geibelson Named to LA Business Journal’s Thriving in their 40’s List
December 22, 2020
Robins Kaplan is pleased to announce that Michael Geibelson has been selected for inclusion in the LA Business Journal’s “Thriving in their 40’s” list. The list honors Los Angeles business leaders who have achieved outstanding professional successes and made significant contributions to the community.
Geibelson is the managing partner of the firm’s California offices. In his 25 years with the firm, he has achieved trial and litigation successes for retail, technology, real estate, and food and beverage clients. Over this time, in addition to commercial matters, his trial experience has ranged widely, from the representation of cattle ranchers in fraud and veterinary malpractice matters, to building owners seeking to remedy welding product defects, to ship owners sued for trespass resulting from the grounding of their vessel, to organizations suing upon violations of the Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act.
Geibelson currently serves as lead and coordinating counsel representing a national clothing retailer in lease disputes arising from the frustration of over 700 leases due to the inability to operate and impairment of operations flowing from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Geibelson is the past chair of the California State Bar’s Litigation Section, the past chair of the Los Angeles Lawyer Editorial Board, and the past president of the board of directors of the Disability Rights Legal Center, a nonprofit legal services agency which promotes the rights of people with disabilities in the areas of civil rights, education, and cancer rights advocacy. His community service also includes his work on behalf of The Bandini Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports veterans and operates the Heroes Golf Course at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration, and as a member of the advisory board of Angel City Games, Los Angeles’s paralympic games.
