Brandon Vaughn Named President of the Hennepin County Bar Association
July 1, 2021
Robins Kaplan is pleased to announce that Partner Brandon Vaughn has been appointed president of the Hennepin County Bar Association (HCBA).
Vaughn has been a member of the HCBA for 13 years, and for the past three years has served on the organization’s Executive Board (Secretary 2018-2019, Treasurer 2019-2020, and President-Elect 2020-2021). Before serving on the Executive Board, Brandon began serving on the Board of Directors as a delegate for the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers in 2014. He also served on the HCBA’s Mentoring Task Force in 2016-2017 to evaluate how the HCBA could contribute to mentoring in the Hennepin County legal community.
“It is a great honor to be serving as president of the HCBA at a time when there are so many critical issues facing the legal profession,” said Vaughn. “My goal and focus this year will be to maximize member value as we continue to navigate the return to a new ‘normal.’ I look forward to introducing new and innovative professional development offerings and an opportunity to gather again in person.”
Vaughn is a personal injury, medical malpractice, and product liability attorney who provides advocacy for those who have been harmed due to another party’s negligence. A longstanding advocate for equality, Vaughn has taken leadership roles in numerous professional organizations focused on diversity and inclusion, including Twin Cities Diversity in Practice and The Black Biglaw Pipeline.
Within Robins Kaplan, Vaughn is the leader of the firm’s Black Firm Member Group, former chair of the firm’s Recruiting/Hiring Committee and former co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee.
Vaughn’s accomplishments have been noted by numerous organizations. He was recently shortlisted for “Diversity & Inclusion Lawyer of the Year” in the Chambers Diversity and Inclusion awards. In 2020, he received the National Bar Association Young Lawyers Division’s “Chairman's Award for Leadership Excellence.” He was also included in Best Lawyer’s “Best Lawyers in America” list and awarded the American Association for Justice’s President’s Certificate of Recognition. In addition, in 2019, Vaughn was named a “Diversity Leader” by Profiles in Diversity Journal and included on Lawyers of Color’s “Nation’s Best” list.
